How to make (adult-size) boot tops for a pirate costume?

I have my costume for Halloween – a pirate wench, but I’m having trouble with the boots. Since I’ll be on my feet for most of the night, I want to be comfortable. I have some basic black shoes that I want to make boot tops for. I have wide calves, so the store-bought ones don’t fit. Anybody have (inexpensive!) ideas for making tall boot tops? I was thinking of using vinyl fabric and lacing up the back with cord, but I don’t have a pattern.

A friend of mine went to the Salvation Army thrift Store and bought silk looking slacks. If you could find leather pants that would work to. The great thing they do not have to fit in the waist. You will be cutting off the legs.
For the top part she cut it at a angle and folded it over outwards. She used heavy starch and a iron. But two sided tape will work or even craft glue.

I am Cinderella in my school’s production of Into the Woods. Just wondering where I could find costumes for the show(that includes the working dress, ball gown, and princess dress–though the last 2 could be the same dress)

What are some clever Halloween costumes that I dont really have to dress up for?

Im looking for a Halloween costume thats super clever, and funny. I’m not looking forward to spending money on this costume, so I dont really want to dress up for it. Example: Leafblower – Get a fake leaf and tie to to one end of a string. Tie/paperclip the other end to a baseball cap and presto! All you have to do is blow!
I’m 14 years old, almost 15. So nothing too inappropriate please.

Gum on the bottom of a shoe-wear all pink and have a shoe on top of your head.
Snot-wear all green
